The Merrill-Palmer Skillman Institute (MPSI) is seeking applicants for a full-time or half-time research technician to work in its preschool. The institute is launching new reading programs, funded through the Department of Education, to develop children’s early literacy. Children enter the preschool at 2.5 years.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position duties: Assist lead teacher in implementing curriculum Provide an enriched learning environment for the children Participate in ongoing research on effectiveness of reading program Assist researchers in nutrition, education, psychology and other fields in the collection of metrics Assist in the assessment of children Supervise children and communicate with parents Attend staff/faculty meetings and fund-raising activities for the Center Work cooperatively with the teaching team at the CDL and with researchers and staff
Required qualifications for the position: • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and evaluation • Educational experience, especially in a content area
Recommended: • Earned bachelor’s degree • Teacher certification in Michigan; • Background and experience with young children who have special needs; • Demonstrated academic strength in a content area (especially mathematics or science);
